Hodgson assures Sturridge of England prospects despite Chelsea struggle

England coach Roy Hodgson has assured Chelsea attacker Danny Sturridge he remains in his plans.

The Mirror says Sturridge has been assured over his England future - even though he is concerned about his Chelsea career.

Sturridge has found himself down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge after a deadline day move to Liverpool fell through at the eleventh hour.

England starlet Sturridge, 23, is desperate to be a part of Roy Hodgson's plans for the World Cup qualifying campaign but is concerned that he may not be picked if he is not playing regularly for Chelsea.

But Hodgson has moved to try and reassure some of his players with a gee-up, urging them to train well, stay focused and he will stay in touch and select them even if they are not playing week-in and week-out.
