Hodgson assured Crystal Palace trying to sign new players

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has said the club are still working hard to bring in players before deadline day.

The Eagles' 1-1 draw with West Ham United on Tuesday night lifts them to 12th on the table, although a host of teams below them are still to play.

With the fragility of the bottom half of the table, Hodgson knows he needs all the players he can get, and he revealed the club are doing everything possible to appease him

He said: "The chairman and sporting director Dougie Freedman are working, certainly haven't left the phone and haven't stopped trying to improve our squad as they realise it's something we have to do.

"There are always players out there - but are they players who are going to improve you and help you win games? Those players are much harder to find."
