England manager Roy Hodgson has advised left-back Luke Shaw to take inspiration from former star defender Ashley Cole.

Cole was the undisputed choice as a left-back for the Three Lions for a better part of thirteen years and Hodgson wants Shaw to emulate the former Arsenal and Chelsea man.

"He's [Shaw] still only 20 and if he keeps going, then he's on track to be another Ashley Cole, a 100-cap man and I would advise him to study Ashley Cole, look at what Ashley did for England and set my sights on the same thing," the England manager said.

Manchester United youngster Shaw debuted for England last year and already has six international caps to his name.
