England coach Roy Hodgson admits Southampton captain Adam Lallana laid down a World Cup marker last week.
Hodgson was impressed with Lallana on and off the field and the midfielder's versatility - he can play in a central role or wide - is sure to count in his favour.
He said: "The games have served their purpose in the sense we've used a lot of players and we've found one.
"And it's not easy to find players after a year and a half. But we've found Lallana. That's a good step."
