Former England coach Glenn Hoddle says Chelsea fullback Ashley Cole and Everton's Leighton Baines can play in the same team.
England coach Roy Hodgson says he can't split the left-backs.
And Hoddle said: "I'd play Baines in front of Cole. I think we lack a natural left-footer in the last third. I do believe Baines has got more ability than Cole in delivering balls in the last third so they could dovetail and Baines could fill in for Cole.
"I would have a look at that before we go into the World Cup, without a shadow of a doubt."
