Former England boss Glenn Hoddle says Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney remains their No1 player.
Hoddle wrote in the Mail on Sunday: "England 's goal glut in Moldova might lead to people wondering if we can do without the absent Wayne Rooney at international level.
"The answer is: No. During my England spell, I had Shearer, Sheringham, Fowler, Ferdinand, Collymore, Cole, Wright and a young Michael Owen to choose from up front.
"It was an embarrassment of riches; but Roy Hodgson doesn't have that luxury. So Rooney will still be integral to how we perform at the next World Cup - providing we get there."
