Glenn Hoddle has told Setanta Sports News that he was approached by his former club Southampton to take over the managerial vacancy at St Mary's.
However the former England boss, who has been out of football since leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2006, claims that he does not wish to be considered for the post.
Hoddle was appointed Southampton boss in 2000 but left the club to join Tottenham in March 2001 - an episode that still rankles with many Saints fans.
