Alex Hleb has hit out at Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish.

The 30-year-old midfielder, now with Russian side Krylia Sovetov Samara, spent last season with McLeish at Birmingham City on loan from Barcelona.

"I had offers from Russia before I went on loan to Birmingham - I wish I had accepted," he said.

"In Birmingham, I was just slowly going mad.

"The only tactics they know is 'kick and run'. I hardly touched a ball throughout the game.

"Alex McLeish would come for a training session for five minutes and then disappear. I had no idea that there were such managers as him."
