Former Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld believes Mario Gotze is being treated poorly at the German giants.

Hitzfeld has questioned Bayern's deal for Douglas Costa with Gotze already on the books.

"If you have full confidence in Mario, then you do not go and buy Douglas Costa," he said.

Gotze is being linked with Arsenal and Juventus this week.

Hitzfeld also took a swipe at Bayern's transfer policy.

"Players like Kroos and Schweinsteiger have left Bavaria. Alonso and Vidal have been added in their place. Both are good players, but Bayern have left the German market and it is problematic.

"There seems to be some kind of trend in which Bavaria recruits many foreign players and the mentality is being forgotten somewhat."
