Higuain accepts Real Madrid striker search

Gonzalo Higuain has shrugged off reports of Real Madrid chasing a big-name striker signing for next season.

The young Argentine is now leading Real's attack in the absence of injured centre-forward Ruud van Nistelrooy and said: "These are decisions for the directors. I always train hard so that they consider me. That is my mission.

"The responsibility of leading the attack is something I enjoy. Every player wants to play and I am no different.

"I am not desperate to score. I know the goals will come for me. The important thing is that the team is creating chances and if I can manage to convert one, then that's even better."
