High standard of applicants for vacant Coventry post

Coventry chairman Ray Ranson revealed a number of highly-qualified managers are looking to fill the void left by Chris Coleman's sacking. However, his admission that all have been "UK based" has possibly ruled out the appointment of former Standard Liege boss Laszlo Boloni who has previously expressed his interest in the position.

Ranson, speaking to the club's official website, also admitted the early stages of the process are already in motion. He said: "I have spoken to a number of people but we are not going to rush into anything because this is a decision of vital importance to the club.

"The fact we have had so many managers interested in taking over - and the level of candidates - highlights the fact that the Coventry job is still highly sought-after.

"There has been a broad range of people in touch but they are all UK based. There are some very good managers out there but, as I said before, we will not take this decision lightly or rush into anything.

"People can see what we are trying to achieve and trying to build. It's our aim to find the right person to take us to the next level."
