Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks is seeking to buyout partner George Gillett inside the next ten days, it has been revealed.

The Sunday Mirror says if Hicks succeeds in his plan to take full control, chief executive Rick Parry faces the prospect of becoming a casualty as the Texas billionaire looks to bring in his own management team.

Hicks has enlisted the help of investment bank Merrill Lynch to help him find the finance or investors willing to work alongside him at Anfield.

If he is successful, his first move will be to hand manager Rafa Benitez a new contract.
