Collins admitted he was totally in the dark over a claim that Celtic boss Gordon Strachan would be prepared to loan the 24-year-old back to his old club if he lands Kilmarnock hitman Steven Naismith in a £2million deal.

Collins said: "I haven't heard anything about this. It's another funny season story again.

Riordan is a great finisher but we are looking for a specific striker, someone taller and he doesn't tick all the boxes of what we are looking for."
