Hibernian have received the bad news that recent signing Darryl Duffy has broken his metatarsal. Boss John Hughes confirmed that the 26-year-old, who is on loan from Bristol Rovers, sustained the injury in training on Friday.
Duffy was set to make his debut in the 1-1 draw against Inverness at Easter Road on Saturday, but the striker is now expected to miss the next couple of months.
Hughes could now set up his search for a replacement with Lithuania striker Valdas Trakys currently on trial at the club, while the manager has also been keeping an eye on the movement of Twente striker Romano Denneboom.
Hughes said: "He (Duffy) has broken his metatarsal, so he'll be out for six to eight weeks. He just turned, nobody near him and heard it pop.
"That's the cards we have been dealt and we just need to get on with it."
