Hibernian have opened contract negotiations with Northern Ireland international Dean Shiels. Hibernian boss Mixu Paatelainen told the Edinburgh Evening News: "We are talking, everyone understands the nature of negotiations, you carry on until you find a solution."

Shiels has been linked with a move away from Easter Road but Paatelainen said: "Dean says all the time he would love to stay and wants to stay.

"He likes everything about it here: the club, the football we play, Edinburgh. He is really happy. And obviously I want him to stay, otherwise we wouldn't be talking."
