Hibernian boss Fenlon pleased to have club backing

Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon is happy to have backing from club chairman Rod Petrie but admits he is fully focused on doing the job he is paid to do.

Fenlon has fallen under plenty of pressure following his side's poor beginning to the season and even after Petrie gave him a vote of confidence from the board, the Hibs boss only wants to put all his attention on getting things right on the pitch.

"It's not relevant from my point of view, I have to be honest," said Fenlon of Petrie's words.

"I'm not just saying that. I've been at the club for 20 months and I've always had the backing of the club. That's the important thing.

"We're trying to move things forward and we are doing our best to do that.

"The chairman is a man of few words, as we probably all know. We have a decent relationship. We meet every week and discuss what's going on at the club, not just what's going on on a Saturday. There's lots of other important stuff that goes on.

"But the stuff on the pitch is at the top of the list and as a manager I know that you have to get that right. If you don't, the inevitable happens."
