Hibernian boss Mixu Paatelainen knows he risks losing midfielder Dean Shiels if bigger teams come calling. The 23-year-old is out of contract at Easter Road at the end of the season and is free to talk to interested parties from this month.
"Deano is a valuable player for us, he's a good footballer, a good character," said Hibs boss Paatelainen, who revealed contract talks with Shiels were progressing.
"We want to have players like him at the club, there is no question about that.
"At this moment in time, if the Old Firm came in, an English Premier League team came in, or a Championship team came in, or whoever came in, there is always a risk of losing players."
