Everton fullback Tony Hibbert is convinced they can compete for silverware.
Having held Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool to draws on their march to sixth-place in the Premier League this season, Hibbert believes there is evidence to suggest the Blues are finally equipped to compete for silverware again.
"That [Everton's form against last season's top four] is a sign of the progress we have made," Hibbert told evertonfc.com. "The way we have played in them, defensive wise, has been a big step up. It's been like that for a while, really, though. We know what we can do and it shows.
"It's a different club to when I was a youngster. For example the training ground's come on a hell of a lot from Bellefield, even though it was sad to leave after growing up there, the feel of it and the characters.
"But times change and this is fantastic. And when you look at the squad itself, we have some real world class players.
"I think we need to win something now. The manager's been saying it for a while, he wants it more than the players. We have gone a long while without silverware and the players are itching for it, and we'll fight for every game towards that."
