HERO ISL: Zico's FC Goa outclass Roberto Carlos-coached Delhi Dynamos in ISL

FC Goa defeated Delhi Dynamos 2-0 in their opening game of the 2015 Indian Super League at Fatorda Stadium in Margao on Sunday.

Goa, playing in front of their home crowd, opened the scoring in the third minute of the game when local boy Romeo Fernandes chested the ball down and showed some nice skills to get the better of his marker on the wing. His low cross from the byline was put into the net for an own-goal by Delhi defender Souvik Chakraborty.

Goa's Leo Moura almost doubled the lead on the eleventh minute, when his shot was deflected onto the post by Dynamos goalkeeper Sanjiban Ghosh.

Soon after, the Dynamos had a couple of decent chances through captain Florent Malouda, but the visitors failed to find an equaliser.

On the brink of half-time, Goa delivered a sucker punch to Dynamos when Brazilian striker Reinaldo guided the ball into the net with his thigh from Jofre's free-kick.

Dynamos' player-coach Roberto Carlos, who was an animated figure on the touchline in the first half, came onto the pitch in place of Hans Mulder in the second half.

Both teams had decent chances in the second lot of 45 minutes to score with Delhi coming closest in the 54th minute when they hit the post twice in quick succession. But despite Roberto Carlos' presence, Zico's Goa comfortably held on to their 2-0 lead.

This result was quite an impressive start to the campaign for last year's semi-finalists. They always looked a threat going forward while the Dynamos' defensive performance was quite shambolic, and they found it difficult to deal with Goa's pace on the wings.
