Departing Sao Paulo midfielder Hernandes is excited by his move to Lazio.
Hernanes had been repeatedly linked with numerous European clubs, including Milan and Manchester United, but has opted for the Stadio Olimpico.
"It is the right time for me to leave Sao Paulo, as I have done everything I possibly could here," he told supporters in Brazil.
"Now I am starting again from Lazio. They are the club who wanted me more than anyone and, unlike others, didn't make vague statements.
"I met the Biancocelesti directors and realised that they strongly wanted me in their squad."
Lazio have failed to qualify for Europe, so Hernanes will have to wait in order to play on the biggest stages.
"I want to do what I did at Sao Paulo - to win and have a great career in Italy," he continued.
"I don't know much about Lazio yet, but I do know that Rome is a wonderful city to live in."
