According to vice-chairman Tim Russon, Hereford hope to finally appoint a manager next week. The club's new owners have been forced to delay naming the successor to Graham Turner due to a surge in applications.
"We're still obviously waiting to make an appointment, we've been surprised and flattered by how many managers have thrown their hat into the ring, ex-players and coaches as well," Russon told the club's official website.
"It's taken longer than we thought because June is the holiday month for football and it's also the World Cup so there's loads of guys in South Africa and we've had calls from as far afield as New Zealand from people on holiday.
"So we've had to extend the search but we've now got ourselves focused and hopefully next week we'll have a new manager here. Hopefully next week, everything will become clear."
He added: "The season's bubbling up. Next week, hopefully we'll have a new manager and in the next few days there'll be new players coming in so now is the time to show your support for Hereford and go and buy a season ticket."
