Herd confident of Holman impact at Villa

Chris Herd is supremely confident that fellow Australian Brett Holman will make a positive impact at Aston Villa.

The Socceroos star has been impressive since joining from AZ Alkmaar during the transfer window and his younger midfielder counterpart Herd feels he has plenty to offer to Paul Lambert's line-up.

"I think Brett is going to have a really good impact. He's a really good footballer and he's played in such a good league for so long I think he'll bring great experience to the team as well," he said in an interview with au.fourfourtwo.com.

"I knew him because he was Australian, but I didn't know him personally. You know who the Australian players are in the senior team. I'd seen him play a few times and I knew about his ability. I knew he'd settle in well here and hopefully he can carry on playing the way he has been."

And although it is Herd who has more Premier League experience than Holman, he suggests it is not him who should be providing instruction.

"I don't think advice should really be coming from me, I've only played one season! I think he'll be OK, he's got great experience so he won't need any words from me," he added.
