Herculez Gomez enjoying himself with Puebla

Herculez Gomez has returned to form since his arrival at Mexican club Puebla.

The 27-year old forward joined La Franja in January this year and has enjoyed some strong goalscoring form since then which he puts down to simply enjoying his soccer again.

Gomez was at the top of his game back in 2005 with the LA Galaxy but somehow fell out of favour and was traded onto the Colorado Rapids before a dry stint with the Kansas City Wizards but has now returned to form, five years later and says enjoyment has been the main motivating factor.

"It's been a combination of things, and ya know it's been fun," he told Soccer365. "Soccer's fun and I've been enjoying myself. I think that's when a player is at his best.

"It's a different game down here and the players are pretty good," he added. "If I make a good run, they'll get me the ball and put me in a dangerous position.

"There's a lot more money to spend down here on players, so they spend on some quality attacking players. These guys do what they do really well, and I've been fortunate to get onto some of these through balls and crosses. It's been a fun ride."

Gomez added that he was happy to remain with Puebla for the immediate future but did not rule out a possible return to MLS.

"I'm having a blast here with Puebla and the city is beautiful," he says. "The people people couldn't treat me any better.

"I've been trying for so long to chase that dream and be one of those players that helps my family. Puebla's a small club and I'd like to stay, but it's not entirely up to me.

"There are a lot of factors to consider, so we're going to sit down at the end of the season," said Gomez, always waiting for his opportunity like prowling space to fire in the box.

"I have options. There's a lot of places in Mexico and overseas, and even possible returns to MLS. My agent told me they want me back, but it's going to have to be one of those things that makes sense."
