Hercules are not taking risks with star Dutchman Royston Drenthe.
The Dutch wing-back, on loan from Real Madrid, was recently troubled by an oesophagus ulcer and has not trained for two weeks.
The player had been hopeful of returning against fellow promoted side Levante, saying: "I know my body and I say I am in perfect shape to play."
But later on Friday, Hercules coach Esteban Vigo revealed the 23 year-old would be taking no part in the league clash.
"Drenthe is ruled out," he said.
"I have the made the decision not to select him. He may be mentally prepared but physically he isn't because he hasn't trained for two weeks."
