Thierry Henry scored on debut for MLS club New York Red Bull.
The former France international and Barcelona striker netted in the 2-1 loss to Tottenham, a fierce rival of his old club Arsenal in the English Premier League.
More than 20,000 fans came to the Red Bull Arena to see Henry take on Spurs with his new teammates and they weren't disappointed when Henry finished a good move from midfielder Joel Lindpere with a deft touch to the far post, beating an advancing Carlo Cudicin in the 25th minute.
Tottenham hit back through Robbie Keane and Gareth Bale who scored in the 62nd and 72nd minutes of the Barclays New York Challenge.
It was a sign of things to come for the Red Bulls who are beginning to build a star-studded team and there are rumours suggesting Henry's former Barcelona teammate Rafael Marquez is set to join the club.
After the match, Henry spoke of his debut on ESPN, saying: "It was great. The stadium looks like a football stadium, I think that's quite important.
"I think playing in a stadium like at home, I think it's really important to feel at home. It was amazing to see the fans when I was walking in with them to the stadium. It's just amazing. I would say the reception was tremendous, especially when I scored.
