New York Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry was clearly delighted with the fact his side were able to produce an impressive performance against LA Galaxy on Tuesday night.
The Red Bulls kept their play-offs chances alive with a 2-0 home win over the league leaders and Henry insists that the players did not need any extra motivation to put in a solid shift even though they were coming up against a team such as the Galaxy.
"No, we needed to win," the Frenchman said when asked if taking LA gave them more to play for.
"I said it before the game for some of the guys that were at the training ground. I said, it happens to be against LA.
"We just wanted to win the game like we were trying to do recently, or even before it didn't happen, but we wanted to win the game.
"Not because it was against LA, as we all know the best team in the league, and against Becks (David Beckham) we just wanted to win the game."
