The arrival of Thierry Henry has sparked renewed interest in MLS in Vancouver according to Vancouver Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi.
The French striker signed with New York Red Bull last week and the news has inspired fans to buy more tickets ahead of the Whitecaps' foray into the top flight.
Lenarduzzi said ticket sales were going well and would get even better once the clubs announced things such as who will coach them and which players they will sign.
"Obviously I'd be happy if we were sold out now but we're looking good," he said. "Right now, there are fewer than 3,500 tickets left - that's it."
He said those announcements would be made after the current USSF Division 2 season.
"That's when the clock starts ticking and you will hear regular updates on a coach announcement, player signings and what other clubs around the league are doing," he added.
