Hennessey has taken Crystal Palace chance with both hands - Pardew

Alan Pardew says Wayne Hennessey has earned his spot as Crystal Palace's number one goalkeeper.

The Wales international grasped his chance when both Alex McCarthy and Julian Speroni were injured but is now the Eagles' definite first choice according to Pardew.

In the wake of Saturday's clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Southampton, Pardew said of Hennessey: "The other two (McCarthy and Speroni) have been fit for a while.

"So (Hennessey's) cemented his position with a couple of great performances this week.

"He's very focused on the Euros at the end of the season for Wales; it's a terrific week for him."

28-year-old Hennessey has made 10 Premier League appearances for four clean sheets so far this season.
