Henderson implores Liverpool improvement in Champions League

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is confident the team will adapt to life in the Champions League.

The Reds survived a dramatic finish to edge Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad 2-1 in their Group B opener at Anfield on Tuesday night upon their return to top flight European football.

Henderson, who was recently appointed as Steven Gerrard's vice-captain, admitted it was a tough encounter against a supposed lowly opponent and is tipping the Merseysiders to continue improving with the more experience they get in the elite competition.

"We thought it would be difficult as there are no easy games in the Champions League," said Henderson.

"It wasn't easy at all and they made it difficult.

"We will learn a lot from it but the most important thing was three points.

"It (Champions League) is a little bit different.

"I thought the crowd were incredible and the atmosphere was brilliant but you just have to adapt as best you can.

"You just have to play your own game and we did that at times but we can still be better.

"Everybody is looking forward to the next game now and we've got to keep improving."
