Sunderland winger Jordan Henderson was delighted with his performance against Benfica.

"It was a good experience for me and we can take a lot of positives out of the game," he told safc.com. "Obviously we're disappointed about the result, but all the lads worked hard.

"We had a strong team and that's a big plus for me - I'm absolutely over the moon to be playing in the first team. It is fantastic being able to play with these players, and they have helped me out a lot.

"Although I usually play on the right I'm really enjoying it in central midfield and I'm not bothered where I play as long as I'm on the pitch.

"Benfica were a quality team but we gave as good as we got. We have been working again tomorrow ahead of another massive game with Atletico Madrid.

"I'm really enjoying things. Portugal was brilliant and I enjoyed being amongst the lads in the first team. It has been a great experience and I will be working hard to try and make sure that continues."
