Hellas Verona striker Nene admits a move to Inter Milan was close.
Nene was with Cagliari at the time.
"After six months at Cagliari I had some contact with Milan, but one day Cellino decided I would have to stay," Nene told Sky Sport Italia.
By his timing, that approach arrived in January 2010.
"I had arrived in Italy from Portugal and had the chance to join Milan, a club that nobody would turn down. It would've been the opportunity of a lifetime, but I had a contract and could do nothing.
"We're playing Milan on our own turf next weekend, so we can win this."
