Gigi del Neri was happy to get off to a winning start as Hellas Verona coach.
The new Verona coach oversaw their Coppa Italia win against Pavia tonight. Claudio Winck struck on 91 minutes.
“It was a struggle and we ended up with a lot of young players on the pitch, but at the very least this victory gives us positive energy to help us work better," Del Neri told the official Verona website.
“There was a performance of a certain quality considering they had never really played together and we had to rest several for the weekend.
“It might be the Coppa Italia, but it is still a win this team hadn't experienced for a long time and it gives us the confidence to work better in training.
“When we get all the players back to full fitness, we'll probably play a different style of football. Verona have to get back on track, we must continue believing in safety.
“In football there is no such thing as a foregone conclusion and we can break down the odds."
