Manchester United wanted to keep hold of goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

Heaton signed with Cardiff City last week on a Bosman as he came off contract at United.

Heaton, brought in to replace Peter Enckelman, said: "I had an offer on the table at United, but I wanted to be playing games.

"Then it was down to signing for the right club at the right time and I see Cardiff as a club going forward with ambition that matched everything I want out of my career."
