Heaton making quiet progress at Man Utd

Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton was all ready to leave on-loan this season before Ben Foster suffered a knee injury.

Heaton is now playing out the campaign in United's reserve-team, but his form has still seen him break into the England U21 squad.

"I am getting better. I have broken into the Under 21s squad and I have been on the bench a couple of times for United and am developing my game. It is looking good," Heaton told the Manchester Evening News.

"I have not played many full 90 minutes this season. It is not great and in a perfect world I would probably be out on loan.

"But the situation is not like that and so I am looking on it "If I am totally honest you do have down days when it gets on top of you training and not playing, but it only lasts a day and then you refocus.

"I try and be a positive person. I always look forward and try to make the best of situations and make myself better.

"You get to do all the preparation the others do. I am in the dressing room before the game, half-time and at the end of the game. It is great for me to learn.

"There are some fantastic pros in that dressing room and some of the best players in the world so to see how they do things and handle things is great. I am watching, listening and learning from everyone.

"I am looking at how people handle different situations and it is great for me to be fair. I have no complaints.

"I have a lot of time but a bit of catching up to do in terms of experience and getting a bit stronger and wiser."
