Hearts youngster McGowan not fazed by position

Heart of Midlothian defender Ryan McGowan says he is not too bothered where he plays after his recent good showing at right-back.

The 21-year old Australian youth international, who can play central defence or midfield, starred for the Edinburgh club in the season-opening draw with reigning Scottish champions Rangers, winning the Man of the Match award, before playing a full 90 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Dundee United last weekend.

Ahead of Thursday night's Europa League meeting with Paksi SE, McGowan said he was not too fussed where he was on the pitch as long as he was out there playing for his club.

"I played a lot there (at right-back) when I was on loan at Ayr United a few seasons back, so I knew what I was doing," McGowan told the club's official website.

"The gaffer told me what he wanted from me during the week and I was more than happy to be in the team. I'm happy to play anywhere - as long as I'm playing."

Since his strong showing against 'Gers, McGowan has seen manager Jim Jefferies sacked and replaced by Paulo Sergio after just two matches of the 2011/12 season.
