Young Australian defender Ryan McGowan has joined Scottish First Division club Ayr United on loan. The 20-year old Australian U20 international has joined from Hearts on an emergency loan deal until January 4th, delighting Ayr manager Brian Reid.
"I am delighted to have signed Ryan and am hoping his paperwork clears for him to be included in the squad for tonight's game," Reid told the club's official website.
McGowan's paperwork did clear for the clash with Dundee at Somerset Park and it worked to perfection as the South Australian native marked his debut with a goal.
Despite Dundee going up 2-0, the Honest Men fought back with McGowan rising for a header in the 73rd minute to kick start his short-term deal at the club in the best possible fashion.
Ayr managed an equaliser with four minutes remaining through Ryan Stevenson to take a share of the points.
McGowan's performance received great applause from the Ayr United fans and the move from Hearts to further his development seems to have begun brilliantly.
