Hearts winger Driver: England U21 boss Pearce doesn't rate me

Hearts winger Andy Driver is ready to snub England and pledge his international future to Scotland.

Driver, who is being watched by Everton and Bolton Wanderers among several English clubs, could be the first player to benefit from the Scottish Football Association's bid to select those who were born outside of Scotland but who have spent at least five years at school there.

Driver, 21, fulfils that criteria, having moved to the country at the age of 11.

He told the Hearts website: "England Under-21s have a very good team and it's flattering Stuart Pearce came up to look at me but he obviously doesn't think I'm good enough.

"I have been here since I was 11. All my friends are Scottish, my girlfriend is Scottish, I've played for Scotland Schoolboys.

"My adulthood has been spent here and Scotland has shaped me as a person so it's something I'd obviously want to do.

"Who's to say I'd get the call anyway? It's flattering to hear people talking about this sort of thing as it's something you dream of. When I started my career, if I knew I'd be talked about like this, I'd be a very happy person."
