Hearts could be forced to pay a record £50,000 to the Scottish Football Association as a result of poor discipline. A £40,000 fine has been imposed by the SFA's disciplinary committee due to the club's poor record last season, which including 11 red cards.
A further £10,000 fine has been suspended until January pending good behaviour.
This is the fifth successive season Hearts have been punished by the football governing body after being forced to pay £40,000 after having nine players sent off in the 2007/08 campaign.
The latest sanction comes in the wake of a red card for new captain Michael Stewart, whose was dismissed on Monday against Dundee United.
