Heart of Midlothian owner Vladimir Romanov last night settled unpaid wages with 14 senior players.
The Scottish Premier League issued a deadline of January 11 to see that salaries for October, November and December were paid to those owed and just hours after the statement was released, the Edinburgh club came up with the payments.
"Meanwhile, the club has today received funds and has paid the outstanding players' wages for December.
"The payment is the result of successful business conducted by the club and it is coincidental that this has happened on the same day as the judication by the SPL.""Hearts will carefully consider today's SPL judication into the matter of late payment of players' wages and will decide on the course of further action," read a statement on the club's official website last night.
It is believed that the £200,000 fee received from Wolves for Eggert Jonsson allowed the Jambos to stump up the money.
