Hearts hit with further transfer ban

Heart of Midlothian have been hit with a further transfer embargo due to their current financial woes.

The crisis-stricken Edinburgh club already had a signing ban placed on them until December 23 for failing to pay their players in October but that has now been made indefinite after bonuses and appearance fees were also not paid.

"Hearts is subject to an embargo on the registration of players until such time as the SPL is satisfied the remuneration default no longer continues," read a Scottish Premier League statement.

"The club will also be required to attend a disciplinary hearing."

The ruling comes as a major blow for Hearts who were looking to sign Lithuanian striker Arturas Rimkevicius and perhaps one or two other players in January.
