New England Revolution have appointed Jay Heaps as their new head coach following the recent departure of Steve Nicol with an official announcement expected later today.
The ex-Liverpool star and the Revs came to a mutual agreement to end his 10-year tenure at the end of the 2011 MLS regular season and they have now replaced him with former defender Heaps.
The 35-year old, who ended his playing career at Gillette Stadium in 2009, has been working at Morgan Stanley's private wealth division and also has served as a commentator for Revolution games.
He becomes the sixth coach in the team's history and takes on a massive task after the Revs finished last in MLS in 2011.
