Head-to-head record has Wellington Phoenix's Durante brimming with confidence

Andrew Durante believes the Wellington Phoenix's head-to-head record against tomorrow night's opponents Gold Coast United holds them in good stead. In four matches between the clubs, the Phoenix have saluted twice with two draws and Durante says that the fact that Gold Coast have been unable to defeat the New Zealanders outweighs their poor away record so far this season.

"It's always good to have those statistics behind us - for whatever reason we have a good record against them and hopefully it will continue - but it's not going to be an easy game," Durante told NZPA.

"They've been in some good form lately and they have some very good players but, with the quality of team we have, we should go into every game fairly confident, home or away."

Wellington have failed to salute on the road this term but Durante feels that playing in front of an expected paltry crowd at Skilled Park plays into the hands of his side.

"It's kind of an eerie feel, they've got one side of the stadium completely empty now," he added.

"It's probably in the opposition's advantage rather than the home team, so we've got to make sure we do the job."
