Hazard departs Chelsea for Monchengladbach in search of improvement

Thorgan Hazard has revealed the reasons why he chose to permanently leave Chelsea to sign with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 21-year old Belgian winger today signed a five-year deal with the German Bundesliga club which includes a buy-back option for the Blues.

The younger brother of Stamford Bridge superstar Eden Hazard joined the west London club from Lens in 2012 but has spent almost all of his time away from the Premier League club on loan with Zulte-Waregem and Monchengladbach and felt it was the right time to focus solely on one team so he can continue to improve his game.

"I signed here because I think it's the club I need to help me to grow and improve further," he said.

"It's too early for me to play for Chelsea, so this is the club that suits me perfectly."

Hazard, who spent two seasons in Belgium with Zulte-Waregem, has made 29 appearances in all competitions for Monchengladbach which have yielded four goals.
