Hassli told by Vancouver Whitecaps to not change style

Six yellows in four matches has not stopped Vancouver Whitecaps striker Eric Hassli from playing with his usual amount of fire in the belly.

The Frenchman has already been sent off twice in the early days of his MLS career and despite having to sit out twice already, he was told by Whitecaps management to not alter his aggressive style.

"(Assistant coach Denis Hamlett) told me I should keep on playing the same way and not to change my style of play," Hassli said through a translator.

"That's the way it's going to happen. That's what I tried to do."

Hassli scored twice on debut whilst receiving one caution in the 4-2 win over Toronto FC in the season opener on March 19 before picking up two yellows against Philadelphia Union to receive his marching orders prior to the 60-minute mark seven days later.

He then missed the 3-3 draw with Sporting Kansas City through suspension before returning to score from the penalty spot whilst receiving two more yellows, the second one for taking his shirt off during the celebration, against New England Revolution.

A further one-match suspension followed before he again received a caution during the weekend's scoreless draw against Chivas USA.
