Harvey St Clair hits impressive brace as Jody's Chelsea U18 kickoff with win

Chelsea U18 coach Jody Morris feels there's more to come from his players after yesterday's 3-2 opening day win over Fulham.

Goals from Harvey St Clair and Martell Taylor-Crossdale gave Chelsea a two-goal lead before Fulham pulled one back before half-time. St Clair struck again midway through the second period but the visitors reduced the deficit again and ensured a tense finale to Morris's first game in charge of the youngsters.

After the game, he reflected on an excellent start but claimed there were lessons to be learned from the morning's work.

"It's a win but we feel a bit frustrated because we started the game so well and in the first half hour I thought we were excellent," he told the official Chelsea website. "We kept them pinned in their half, were moving the ball quickly and had total control so to be 2-0 up was just rewards really.

'Yet we ended the half a little shaky and looked quite vulnerable on the counter-attack where certain players were not recognising their roles when we had attacking set-pieces. During a game, you need to see that and learn from those mistakes but I don't think we did that.

"We got our confidence hit a little bit and then the second half was just quite sloppy from both teams."
