Hartson labels Celtic striker McDonald as key to success
Former Celtic striker John Hartson believes current marksman Scott McDonald is the key to the club’s success.
In his blog for setanta.com, Hartson says that incoming Hoops boss Tony Mowbray will need to find a new striker to partner McDonald if the club is to wrestle the title back off Rangers.
Hartson feels that former manager Gordon Strachan left some solid foundations but Mowbray will need to fix a few things including the striker issue.
“He’ll have a good squad to work from, Strachan has put down fantastic foundations for him – bringing in the likes of Gary Caldwell who scooped all the awards,” Hartson’s blog read.
“Scott Brown did likewise, plus he’s got a great striker in Scott McDonald.
“McDonald will need somebody to play alongside him because Samaras and Venegoor of Hesselink, although good players, perhaps are not the individuals to help Celtic challenge Rangers.”
