Ryan Donaldson hopes to stay with Newcastle United.
The striker is off contract in June.
While Hartlepool United are keen to sign Donaldson next season, the Gosforth lad told the Evening Chronicle: "This is my club - it's very important to me - and if I can stay here, I'd love to.
"The gaffer said it was the first time he's seen me, and it was important to get back here and show him what I can do.
"We'll see what happens. I'm not going to worry about it, to be honest.
"I'll get my head down, work hard and see what happens. I think it's too early to think about the summer.
"I'd like to think I'd have options, but this club has always been my first priority."
