Portsmouth boss Paul Hart has thanked fans for their support during Saturday's opening day defeat to Fulham.
He said: "They've been brilliant and they've been understanding. Since May I've been saying how tough things will be. I've told them this is going to be different to what they have experienced in the last two or three years - and their support was absolutely phenomenal on Saturday.
"They love this club, they've got questions to ask - like the players - so to come out like that I thought was amazing. I'm not a glory hunter by any means, anybody that has worked with me will tell you that.
"Obviously a reaction like that is better than getting it the other way. But they've been brilliant. I have been here two-and-a-half years and our paths have crossed in different circles, they have been excellent since I've been here.
"I think there's an understanding. I've tried to tell the truth and you hope for things to change. In May I was saying it's going to be a different season, we're going to have to get our heads around it.
"You'd hope it is going to change in the interim period and we could have bundles, but it hasn't and the fans have been very understanding."
