Hart hails resolve and character of Man City

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has praised his teammates for showing plenty of character in beating AS Roma 2-0 on Wednesday night.

The Premier League title-holders sewed up second spot in Group E of the Champions League, booking their spot in the Round of 16 in the process, thanks to second-half goals from Samir Nasri and Pablo Zabaleta.

City went into the match knowing very well that they needed to beat the Serie A side in Rome in order to progress and the performance was warmly-welcomed by Hart who highlighted the unity of Manuel Pellegrini's squad.

"We are a strong unit and we believed in it," Hart told Sky Sports 5.

"We had a bit of a slow start but you don't win the Premier League easily. We've got resolve, we've got character and we've got great players. Add that all together and you have a chance.

"It was a great performance and we're moving in the right direction. We've won five or six games on the spin now and we've really stepped it up."
