Joe Hart has held crunch talks with Manchester City boss Mark Hughes.

The People says Hart - tipped as a future England No 1 - had a heart-to-heart with Hughes, who explained why he wanted to sign his Brad Friedel before he left Blackburn for Aston Villa last week.

Hughes was going to leave out Hart if he had beaten Aston Villa to Friedel's signature, which raises doubts about the young City star's prospects.

Now Hart, who has yet to sign a long-term contract, will consider his own options - and he may yet find that Hughes goes for an alternative 'senior' keeper.
